Spring Break 2010!

This year for Spring Break (the kids being a little older and Lambert doing SO much better) we decided to road trip it a bit. We took about a 4.5 hour drive to two Texas State Parks: Dinosaur Valley State Park, and Cleburne State Park. We were supposed to be in Cleburne for two nights - but do to rain on the drive in we pulled up short in Waco and stayed at a Holiday Inn (with a pool!). Got all checked in, paid my bill, and realized I forgot to ask if they accepted dogs.

Turns out, after a little recon, that they did not. So, what to do? Stuff your dog into the kids clothing bag, tell him to be quiet, and sneak him passed the front desk, of course.

The hotel was nice, the kids LOVED the pool, the beds were nice and our suite had two T.V's. Kids slept great.

Next day we were on our way to Dinosaur Valley State Park. We did some hiking, crossed a few rivers, and saw a few really cool dinosaur foot prints in stone. Most were covered by murky water from the rain the night before. But fun was had. We had lunch at the park and moved on.

We set up at Cleburne - and the kids played while I did some fishing. Max joined me for a bit - but we didn't catch anything. No matter - off to cook smores. I split some cedar (that I was allowed to pick up from the park) and made a nice fire.

That night it god COLDER than expected (we saw 40's on the news - well - we GOT 32 or so). But the kids were happy - and all was well.

We got up the next morning and did some Geocaching - found a few - and hiked a little more. Packed up - and headed home.

Some memorable quotes from the event:

"This is some really bad music!" - Max while at a restaurant where someone put Micheal Jackson's "Beat it" on the Juke Box.

"Can we live here?!" Lambert and Maxwell after seeing our hotel room.

"Since you found the Geocache's today dad - you should take this." - Lambert while holding out one of the two quarters that he got from one of the Geocache's.
